Social media is a lot of fun, but managing my account can sometimes be stressful and time-consuming. Scheduling apps have a way of making your life 10x’s easier. Caution: I never schedule posts because I think it’s essential to engage with your audience at least 10 minutes before your post and for at least 30-45 minutes after.
I love to keep my eye out for the best tools to help streamline my business, content creation, and marketing tools. When you find the right tool, it’s like finding your “favorite pair of jeans” – you hang on to it.
I get DMs all the time asking what kind of Instagram planning tool do I recommend. I always feel like it’s a loaded question because there are so many options to choose from these days. Personally, I’ve been using Planoly for the last two years, and I can’t see myself switching.
What is Planoly?
Okay, let’s start with the basics. Planoly is a visual planning tool for Instagram. It’s a very user-friendly app to help you plan your content, save hashtags you regularly use, and analyze your engagement.
How does it work?
The platform allows you to schedule social media posts for both Instagram and Pinterest. You can also organize content by folders and move them to the “grid” when you’re ready to incorporate them into your feed.
Uploading photos:
I love uploading 10-15 photos and organizing them how I would like them to display on my Instagram feed. If I haven’t posted all of the pictures I wanted to for a given season, I transfer the new photos to a separate folder, and I label them with whatever season corresponds with the images. Removing unused photos has been a great way to keep my grid clear to quickly move pictures around and have content to repurpose next year!
Drag & Drop Grid Feature:
To organize your content on Planoly on their website or app, click and drag the little 9×9 tile to your desired position. The display of photos helps you to make sure you have a wide variety of content for your audience to see. I usually alternate between posting close-up shots and far-away photos.
Hashtag feature:
I am a huge fan of hashtags! On Planoly, you can create “hashtag sets” of your regularly used hashtags. For example: Around Christmas time, I have a list of hashtags I like to use. Through the Planoly app, you can copy and paste your hashtags from your list and include them in your caption! It saves me so much time, reducing the potential of having a typo in your hashtag. Instagram allows you to include 30 hashtags in any of your posts. Planoly will keep track of how many you’ve included in your caption, so you never have to worry about going over.
Is Planoly safe?
Planoly is an official Instagram Partner, so you don’t have to worry about whether your account will be flagged as violating the terms of Service or any other violations. Like any third-party platform, make sure you are using a secure password and signing up for two-factor authentication to protect your account.

*See chart below. I have the Solo plan. I loved the free plan, but I uploaded a lot of content and didn’t want to limit myself. I encourage you to spend time looking at the list of plans below and make sure you select one that works best for you and your business needs.
